Talasa Association is a young organization recently founded with the purpose and commitment of developing courses by and for young people and workers from the European Union and neighboring countries, focused on building bridges and understanding, based on non-formal education techniques. .

¿How everything started?

Marina, Paula and María, three young students, met in the EUROMED master's degree at UCM in 2018. Throughout their university days they trained individually in the field of non-formal education and combined their studies with volunteer activities and cooperation. In 2020, their interest in the situation of young people in the countries that surround the Mediterranean Sea, international relations, cooperation and their participatory and activist spirit led them to take another step in their professional career and created this association.

Since its inception there are already several people who have come and gone participating and collaborating in the creation of opportunities and management of the association. Currently four young people, Maria, Paula, Karla and Luisa, work together to create and organize different projects with great enthusiasm and the desire to grow in the world of cooperation.

¿WhyTalasa?

The word"thalassa"It has its origin in Greek mythology. Thalassa or Thalassa en ancient greek, Θάλασσα (Thálassa), Θάλασση (Thálassê) or Θάλαττη (Thalattê), means sea. Thalassa was the primordial goddess of the sea, daughter of Ether y Hemera, personification of Mediterranean Sea.

Although Asociación Juvenil Talasa currently works with youth groups from different countries of the European Union, the origin of the association arose from the idea of generating a participatory and cooperative youth network among the countries that surround the Mediterranean Sea. For this reason, the word "Talasa" was chosen among other ideas and now also refers to the beginnings of the association.
